Sorry we missed you, Tom. We were lounging two "sections" to the east of the Welcome gate. It was a prairie weather miracle. Wouldn't have given odds on them getting the show in based on what we were seeing in KC before we left.

Damn, it would have been good to see you again. We were all over the place taking photos, eating, taking photos and hobnobbing in the photography tent. We almost stayed home due to the weather and the forecast, and indeed it rained on us most of the way down until we hit Chase County. Then it dissipated! The true meteorological reason for the change: I carried my Gore-Tex rain jacket all day. It's a guaranteed rain-preventer.

We wondered if you might be there. We did little or no wandering, and really came just for the music and scenery. If we had been smart, we would have booked into a room in Emporia and dawdled our way home Sunday instead of driving home late that night. By the time we got out of the swampy parking area and hit pavement it was 10:45.

But a relaxing day, all the same.

It was indeed a long night. After a quick stop in Manhattan for snacks we made it home around midnight.

Beautiful photos, Tom. The sky really cooperated with you, didn't it? Stunning!

It was not the sky any of us were expecting, but we damn sure weren't going to gripe about it.
