Day six: Homeward bound, Bloomfield, N.M. to Lamar, Colo.

Whoooo-whoooo! Chambres! Cumbres & Toltec Scenic railroad! Did you know Cumbres Pass is the highest point a US passenger rail crosses?

Did you take the train? Oh, man... I hope you did!

The photos are fabulous. Like the Rio Grande especially, just because of the history - Denver and Rio Grande RR built the original track.

Chama is such a neat place - I've nodded and murmured through all this but now I want to GO!

Linda -- Lori and I took the train years ago, but this time the train wasn't operating--too early in the season. Plus we didn't have time. We stopped at the depot in Chama and nosed about for a while, probably the best stop of the day. It's a real experience riding the train, though, and the scenery is unforgettable.
