Essays taken from a weekly newspaper column published in the Washington County News, Washington, Kansas. Look for my book, "Dispatches From Kansas," available from Amazon.com, or from the author.
It's official - you're a better rabbit than I. I've been hunkered down in the warren, studying, hoping that winter might be short and uneventful. Can't last much more than three months, I suppose. Keep up the amazing work.
On my perambulations about the yard and nearby environs, I came across several of the wild variety of lapins. All appeared much warmer than the two-legged brother. Still, I confess to not hiking over to an old barn to see what images I could capture, though that might come later today if the wind relents. It's a veritable howling blizzard outside with wind chills of 20 below. Not conducive to anything but staying indoors—but we shall see. Don't worry, you're still a talented rabbit.
Fortunately, I get to stay home all day and work out of the house. Drive safely, and don't forget to use some of that energy to shoot a few photos along the journey.

Talent is always trumped by inertia. For the betterment of rabbit-kind, I have to get out and navigate this morning in the white cyclone. Meh.
