The house Chivers built--within the octagon

Great photos, Tom. Were these taken with the D700 and the 24-70 lens?

Wes -- They were taken with the D300 and Tokina 12-24. Even at 18 mm (12 + 1.5X crop factor=18), the lens was inadequate to get the entire staircase. I needed a D700 and Nikon 14-24. I now have the former but not the latter, alas.

Circles within an octagon - for some reason it reminds me of a turtle. It's like finding movement and fluidity within a hard shell.

(Well, that reminds me of Forrest Gump and his box of chocolates metaphor. Now I'm seeing the house as a luscious treat, and your photos as the thumb cracking the bottom to see what might be inside.)

I'm especially taken with that first photograph.
