Essays taken from a weekly newspaper column published in the Washington County News, Washington, Kansas. Look for my book, "Dispatches From Kansas," available from Amazon.com, from the author or Town Crier Bookstore, 716 Commercial, Emporia.
I haven't gone back and looked, but it seems to me that everyone in the photos looks happier this year than they did last year. I hope that's true. I'm going to believe it is, so I'll not go back and look. These are some fine photos, and it looks like it was a fine celebration.
You might be right. People were really into the spirit of the day, plus all the little Rosie the Riveters added a charm that was missing last year.
Really enjoyed your Veterans Day photos, Tom. Thanks for sharing them.
